WRITING FOR MAGAZINES WORKSHOP

At a recent Highlights Foundation workshop, Rachel Buchholz, executive editor at National Geographic Kids, contributed her knowledge of the current children’s magazine market. She told of a healthy market, ready for your stories. A market that reaches millions of eager readers; with stellar figures including: National Geographic Kids, with more than one and a half million subscribers; Highlights for Children, with more than two million subscribers; Boys' Life, with over one million subscribers; and the Cricket Magazine Group, including Cricket and Ladybug magazines, with over a half a million subscribers. Those are just a few of today’s nearly two hundred children and young adult magazines in print. What’s more, this established and profitable market is growing by the minute as more magazines build their online presence.
Learn how to break into this eager market with four amazing magazine writing experts. Join Rachel Buchholz, Paula Morrow, Rich Wallace, and Lou Waryncia at Writing for Magazines: Fiction and Nonfiction, March 8-11, 2012. You will leave the workshop with an article ready for submission and a clear understanding of everything the children’s magazine market has to offer.
