WRITE ON! WORKSHOP

The Fourth Annual Write On! Workshop will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the North River Coffee House (www.NorthRiverCoffee.com), 323 Salem Avenue Dayton, Ohio 45406. Sessions begin at 8:00 a.m.

Valerie L. Coleman, conference planner and publisher, says, "Almost everyone has a story to tell, but when it comes to fiction writing, captivating the reader is a skill." For the first session, Valerie uses examples and humor to convey techniques that bring life to a novel. "My true passion is helping experts save money by mastering self-publishing. Without a thorough understanding of the literary business, writers waste thousands of dollars only to end up with an inferior product." Hundreds of writers have been inspired by Valerie's business savvy and transitioned from pen to paper to published. Wendy Beckman, author and professional editor, will delve into nonfiction writing and publishing through a traditional, commercial publisher. Session highlights include working with editors, understanding critical elements in a contract and getting an agent.

Earth Jallow, of Down to Earth Public Relations, has an impressive list of clients including Les Brown, Joylynn Jossel and Derius Swinton. In her session, attendees will gain knowledge about publicists, distributors and Internet marketing; along with proven techniques to get books off the shelves.
