Q - MARKET FOR POETRY

A - Everyone seems to have the impression that there is no market for poetry. Fortunately that is not true. The reality is that it is almost impossible to get a book of poetry published by a royalty publisher (unless you are famous), but the market guide lists about 200 periodical markets for poetry. The trick to selling poetry is to offer poems that reflect the focus of the magazine, i.e., family, marriage, pastors, children, humor, etc. Also abide by their guidelines as to the length of the poems, how many you can send at once, etc. All the info you need on these publishers is listed in the market guide.
